So Harry was axed as Spurs manager yesterday. I can't pretend to be surprised I had been told it was on the cards but it still makes little sense to me.
Firstly lets not forget what position Tottenham was in when he took charge. Then how quickly he turned it around. Tottenham for me along with City played probably the most entertaining football in the country last season and it pains me to say that. I am hearing from a lot of fans that he took them as far as he could. I don't know if they are trying to convince themselves of this or weather the really mean it but this argument has no merit for me. They did as a team got better each season Harry was in charge in my opinion and I as a gooner am glad to see the back of him but I also wanted to see where he could take them.
I fairly confident Modric is and was always leaving but this I felt was good for Tottenham the money it generated would of allowed Harry to buy a fairly suitable replacement but and also more importantly he would finally have the funds it seems to buy a real quality centre forward some thing they have really been lacking.
Sadly we will now never know but if Harry still had more to give and I suspected he did then why was he pushed out? Could it be because he failed to get Champions League football. This again I find hard to believe after all I am sure the Chairman would have bitten his hand off for fourth at the start of the season and it was achieved. I know the season promised so much more for Tottenham but lets look at the bigger picture United, City, the Arsenal & Chelsea should be in a different league to Tottenham given there resources. Redknapp not only bridged that huge financial gap but on two of the last three seasons the actually defied it and finished above firstly City then Chelsea. Lets be clear Harry can not be blamed for the miracle that was Chelsea's Champions League campaign. I think this season in particular finishing fourth with the football that produced was a huge achievement and something everyone associated with Tottenham Hotspurs should be proud of.
I fear that once again personal feelings are again to blame here and the only logical reason for Harry's dismissal. Its a real shame for me but I guess it part of life and not just football. So what next for Tottenham my guess is the jobs been offered to David Moyes already. A great manager in my opinion will he be able to improve upon what Harry did only time will tell. As for Harry I can't see where he will go from here.
